Infosys shares fell 2.7% in early Indian trading on Monday, 26 October MYT, after the technology-services company lowered its fiscal 2027 revenue-growth outlook to 1% to 2%. The market reaction brings fresh scrutiny to spending by North American clients, even as Infosys reports rapid growth in its artificial-intelligence business.
Reuters reported Monday's early-session decline and weakness in the company's North America business. The percentage describes that reporting snapshot, rather than a closing price or a live quote.
The results were released on Friday, 23 October. For investors following global technology spending, the distinction is between demand for specific AI projects and the pace of growth across a large outsourcing business.
Infosys Shares React to a Lower Growth Range
The company's quarterly earnings release confirms a full-year revenue-growth range of 1% to 2% in constant currency, with operating-margin guidance held at 20% to 22%. Constant-currency growth removes the effect of exchange-rate movements when comparing revenue across periods.
The previous revenue range was 1.5% to 3%, according to Moneycontrol's results assessment. Lowering both ends reduces the midpoint from 2.25% to 1.5%, a 0.75-percentage-point adjustment. The change concerns expected revenue growth, rather than a forecast that annual revenue will shrink.
Moneycontrol reported different brokerage responses. UBS retained a Buy recommendation, while HSBC maintained Hold and highlighted pressure on margins. These are the institutions' assessments; they do not establish what the shares will do next.
AI Growth and Large Deals Offer Support
Infosys reported US$5.145 billion of quarterly revenue, up 1.3% on a reported-dollar basis. Constant-currency growth was 1.5% year on year and 1.2% from the preceding quarter. Its operating margin stood at 21%.
Chief executive Salil Parekh said AI accounted for 10.5% of revenue and grew 29% quarter on quarter. The company also recorded US$5.2 billion in large-deal contract value, including a deal worth more than US$2 billion; 62% of the total was net new.
Those figures measure different things. Quarterly revenue records sales recognised during the period. Contract value covers business won that can contribute over a longer delivery schedule. A strong bookings figure therefore does not mean the entire amount becomes revenue in the following quarter.
The reporting period is the quarter ended 30 September 2026, within Infosys's fiscal 2027 financial year. That period label matters when comparing the numbers with companies reporting on a calendar-year basis. The revised annual range is management's forward guidance; the quarterly revenue and margin figures describe business already reported. Their different time horizons should remain explicit in any comparison.
- FY27 revenue-growth guidance: 1% to 2% in constant currency.
- FY27 operating-margin guidance: 20% to 22%.
- Reported quarterly operating margin: 21%.
Cash Flow and Shareholder Payments
According to the release, quarterly free cash flow was US$928 million, down 15.7% year on year. The board declared an interim dividend of 26 rupees per share, up 13% from the prior-year payment.
The dividend and stable reported margin provide additional context for the lower growth forecast. Shareholder payments, cash generation and management's sales assumptions each answer a different question about the business. A dividend increase alone does not remove the demand concerns reflected in the guidance change.
What Regional Technology Investors Should Watch
BullBuzz has separately covered Netflix's advertising-forecast reduction and Meta's quarterly revenue growth. These are different business models, but the comparisons show why each company's outlook needs to be assessed against its own reported results.
For Malaysian readers comparing international technology exposure, Infosys provides a view of enterprise-services demand rather than semiconductor production or data-centre construction. Its results do not establish a corresponding change in Malaysian company earnings.
The next checks are whether large contracts turn into recognised sales, whether North American demand improves, and whether Infosys stays within its unchanged margin range while delivering the reduced annual growth target. Subsequent trading updates should be compared with Monday's timestamped early-session move, rather than treated as the same quote.
