Malaysia gold price 12 October: illustrative gold bars with Kijang Emas coin quote up RM169

The Malaysia gold price picture on Monday, 12 October 2026 depends on the product. Bank Negara Malaysia lists a one-ounce Kijang Emas coin at RM18,170 to buy, up RM169 from Friday's RM18,001. A local spot reference puts 999 gold at RM553.63 per gram as of 11:13 a.m. Malaysia time.

Those numbers answer different questions. The Bank Negara coin table gives a finished bullion coin price. HargaEmas.my's spot reference estimates the metal value per gram. Neither figure is a universal jewellery-counter price.

BullBuzz's 11 October Malaysia gold update tracked a Public Gold product while Maybank's displayed rates still carried a Friday date. Monday's newly dated bank and coin quotes make a fresh comparison possible.

Malaysia Gold Price on 12 October: The Morning Quotes

These are published snapshots, in ringgit, checked on Monday morning. Selling means the provider sells gold to a customer; buying means the provider buys it back.

Maybank's rate board shows its conventional Gold Investment Account selling quote at RM562.09/g, RM0.16 below Friday's RM562.25/g. Its buying quote fell RM0.84/g to RM540.13/g. The current difference between the two account quotes is RM21.96/g.

The Kijang Emas table shows the one-ounce coin's buyback quote rising from RM17,301 on Friday to RM17,446 on Monday. The coin's selling and buying quotes are RM724 apart. Its RM169 selling-price gain does not describe the movement of every Malaysian gold product.

Why Spot and Shop Prices Differ

The 999 reference of RM553.63/g and the Maybank account's RM562.09/g selling rate differ by RM8.46/g in these snapshots. The figures also come from different sources and times. A customer cannot transact at an aggregator's reference price simply because it is displayed on a screen.

At GB Gold's 11:00 a.m. board, a 999.9 bar costs RM592.00/g to buy. The quoted RM550.56/g buyback applies to GB Gold bars and gold held in its storage product; its table lists separate rates for other brands. The RM41.44/g difference between its own buy and buyback quotes is specific to that provider and product.

Purity matters too. HargaEmas.my put its 916 spot reference at RM507.13/g at 11:13 a.m. Jewellery invoices can include workmanship and a retailer margin. The return on resale depends on the buyer's purity test, condition policy and buyback rate, not the display's metal-value reference alone.

What Malaysian Gold Buyers Should Check Next

  • Match the product: a coin, account balance, bar and finished jewellery item have different terms.
  • Check both sides: compare what the customer pays now with the applicable buyback quote.
  • Record the time: rates can change after these Monday morning snapshots.
  • Ask about extras: physical premiums, workmanship, redemption and delivery costs can change the final bill.

The 10 October spot snapshot explains the weekend baseline. For broader market context, BullBuzz also covered gold and the Federal Reserve minutes. The next useful local check is an updated quote for the exact product, weight and purity a reader is comparing.
