Malaysia gold price falls RM426 as Kijang Emas drops on 23 October 2026

Malaysia’s gold price benchmark fell on Friday as Bank Negara Malaysia cut the one-ounce Kijang Emas selling quote by RM426 to RM17,432. Local 999.9 dealer prices also moved lower, while international spot gold traded near US$4,014 an ounce.

The official Kijang Emas table showed Friday’s selling price down from RM17,858 on Thursday, a decline of about 2.4%. The buying quote fell RM409 to RM16,744. The two prices leave a RM688 gap for the one-ounce coin, before any separate transaction costs.

Malaysia Gold Price: BNM’s Friday Quotes

Bank Negara’s daily list covers three Kijang Emas sizes. All three selling and buying quotes declined from the previous business day, giving Malaysian buyers a direct local benchmark alongside private dealer prices.

  • One ounce: RM17,432 selling and RM16,744 buying, down RM426 and RM409 respectively.
  • Half ounce: RM8,881 selling and RM8,372 buying, down RM217 and RM204.
  • Quarter ounce: RM4,522 selling and RM4,186 buying, down RM111 and RM102.

The one-ounce buy-sell difference narrowed from RM705 on Thursday to RM688 on Friday. It is the gap between BNM’s displayed selling and buying prices, not a guaranteed resale result for every customer. The RM688 difference is about 3.95% of Friday’s selling quote, a useful reference when comparing the two sides of an offer.

The move reverses Thursday’s RM34 Kijang Emas increase, which had lifted the selling quote to RM17,858. A day earlier, BullBuzz recorded a RM89 decline to RM17,824. Friday’s quote is RM392 below that Wednesday level.

Private Dealer Quotes Also Ease

Private retail prices are not identical to BNM’s bullion-coin table. GB Gold’s live rate board showed a 999.9 bar selling price of RM564 per gram and a buyback price of RM524.52 at 1:00 PM Malaysia time. It listed both as down about 1.23% from its previous reference.

EVG Gold’s separate board reported a 999.9 “We Sell” rate of RM568.45 per gram and a “We Buy” rate of RM508.86 at 12:45 PM Malaysia time. The difference between providers reflects their own products, spreads and pricing terms. These figures should not be treated as interchangeable offers for the same coin or bar.

Buyers comparing quotes should check the product’s purity, weight, selling price and buyback conditions together. A displayed gram price can exclude workmanship, delivery, platform charges or a premium, depending on the seller and product.

A retailer’s buyback rate can also apply only to items purchased through that provider. Confirm whether testing, delivery or other charges change the final amount received when selling a bar or coin.

Spot Gold Adds a Global Reference

Kitco’s live chart showed spot gold at US$4,013.80 an ounce at 1:11 AM Eastern Daylight Time on Friday, down US$9.50 on the session. That timestamp was 1:11 PM in Malaysia. The quote is a global dollar benchmark, while Malaysian retail prices also reflect the ringgit exchange rate and provider-specific margins.

The BNM Kijang Emas table is the most direct comparison for buyers tracking the Malaysian bullion coin. Private dealer boards provide product-specific offers, and the spot chart shows the underlying international market. A decline in all three references points in the same direction, but their prices answer different questions.

What Malaysian Gold Buyers Should Watch

BNM’s next daily Kijang Emas update will show whether Friday’s reduction continues or reverses. Dealer rates may change at different times during trading hours, so the timestamp matters when comparing an online quote with a counter offer.

Before a purchase or sale, compare the exact product and purity, note both sides of the quoted spread, and confirm any fees or buyback restrictions. A one-day move does not establish a longer-term trend; the next BNM quote, the ringgit and international spot gold will provide the next set of reference points.
