Malaysia gold prices on 15 October 2026 show a one-ounce Kijang Emas coin offered at RM17,852, down RM167 from Wednesday's published quote. Maybank's buyback price fell RM169 to RM17,143, while its conventional Gold Investment Account declined to RM552.26 per gram.
The local reset follows a sharp international move. Gold fell after hotter-than-expected US inflation strengthened expectations for another Federal Reserve rate increase. The next test arrives tonight, when the United States publishes September producer prices.
Malaysia Gold Price on 15 October: Maybank Quotes
Maybank's counter-rate page showed the following prices at 10:00 AM Malaysia time. Selling is the price paid by a customer buying from the bank; buying is the bank's buyback price.
- Kijang Emas, one ounce: selling RM17,852; buying RM17,143.
- Kijang Emas, half ounce: selling RM9,095; buying RM8,571.
- Kijang Emas, quarter ounce: selling RM4,631; buying RM4,286.
- Gold Investment Account: selling RM552.26/g; buying RM530.73/g.
Maybank labels these rates as indicative and subject to change. They are product-specific bank quotes, not a single nationwide jewellery price.
Kijang Emas Drops RM167 After Wednesday's CPI Shock
The one-ounce selling quote is RM167 below Wednesday's RM18,019 reading, a decline of about 0.93%. The buyback quote is RM169 lower. BullBuzz's 14 October gold update recorded the earlier bank prices before the US inflation release.
The conventional account moved more sharply on a per-gram basis. Its selling rate fell RM5.17 from RM557.43/g, while the buyback rate fell RM5.26 from RM535.99/g.
Maybank's Islamic account moved differently. The MIGA-i rate for 100 grams and above was RM564.23/g selling and RM540.69/g buying at 9:24:12 AM. The below-100g tier was RM571.73/g selling and RM540.19/g buying. Different products and update times can move in different directions on the same morning.
The Buyback Spread Remains Part of the Cost
The difference between the one-ounce coin's selling and buying quotes is RM709. The conventional account's spread is RM21.53/g. Those figures are simple differences between the displayed rates, before any other applicable terms.
A falling headline price does not remove the resale gap. Buyers should compare the same product, weight and quote time. BullBuzz's 12 October comparison explains why a coin, an account balance and a physical bar cannot be treated as interchangeable.
Gold Fell Below US$4,100 as Rate-Hike Bets Rose
Reuters reported spot gold down 1.8% at US$4,083.94 an ounce at 2:05 PM EDT on Wednesday, its lowest level since 7 October. December US gold futures settled 1.7% lower at US$4,107.90.
September US consumer prices increased 0.6% from August and 3.7% from a year earlier. Reuters said the implied probability of an October rate increase rose to about 42%, from about 22% before the release. The dollar index also gained 0.5%, adding pressure to dollar-denominated bullion.
Bloomberg's overnight report said bullion fell as much as 2.1% near US$4,070. It also highlighted a competing risk: further Middle East energy disruptions could lift inflation expectations and keep borrowing-cost concerns elevated.
What Malaysian Gold Buyers Should Watch Tonight
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics schedules September producer-price data for 8:30 AM Eastern time on 15 October, equivalent to 8:30 PM in Malaysia. The result was not available when this morning snapshot was prepared.
A stronger producer-price reading could reinforce rate concerns; a softer reading could change that calculation. Neither outcome guarantees the next gold move. Ringgit gold prices also depend on the currency conversion and the terms of each local product.
For a purchase decision, record both sides of the quote and its timestamp. Then check the rate again before transacting. BullBuzz's broader gold and Federal Reserve explainer covers why higher yields can pressure a metal that pays no interest.
